Luis Eduardo Barón
A native of Colombia, Luis Baron is the publisher of 7DIAS newspaper, La Guía magazine, La Voz Hispana, and Buen Vivir magazine. Publications of TV Net Media Group.
Baron came to Sarasota during the summer of 1999 with his wife Martha and their three kids. He graduated with a degree in architecture but has spent most of his life working in television. He produced teleseries, sports events, and variety shows. After a long television career he moved to America for what was supposed to be a one-year project.
In 2000, he and his wife started La Guía del Golfo magazine covering Sarasota and Manatee counties. In 2002, they launched 7DIAS newspaper with distribution in the Tampa Bay region. In 2003, La Guía Tampa Bay was founded. As of January 2008, they made the acquisition of la Voz Hispana a twelve-year-old local publication and re launched in 2009, as the first bilingual newspaper in Sarasota and Manatee.
The National Association of Hispanic Publications awarded Baron twice with the prestigious José Martí Golden Award as the best Editorial Column in Spanish for the second time in his career. His media was awarded 16 José Martí awards including four times the best Hispanic magazine award. He was selected in 2007 as one of the most powerful People in Sarasota by Sarasota Magazine. The Sarasota Chamber of Commerce awarded his company as the Minority Business of the year in 2006, the Ford Motor Company and AOL Latino selected him as one of the Top Five Visionarios of the country in 2005, and he has also received numerous other recognitions.
Baron has been involved in community organizations, Board Member of the Gulf Coast Latin Chamber of Commerce and The Greater Sarasota Chamber of Commerce.
